The Arabic script that flourishes in the hands of Reza Abedini acts as a critical eye on the Eurocentric evolution of typography.

It was love at first sight when I saw Reza Abedini’s work. His series of typographic posters grabbed me and pulled me into a new world of Farsi type, calligraphy and strong graphic imagery – all infused into powerful pieces of graphic art.
But I wasn’t the first to be fascinated, not by a long shot. Reza’s creative work has influenced designers all around the world, winning highly coveted international awards and getting featured in many publications, such as Arabesque 2: Graphic Design from the Arab World and Persia, edited by Ben Wittner and Sascha Thoma (one of my personal faves).
His Iranian cultural roots are evident literally and figuratively in the treatment and composition of subjects and projects, making his work essential viewing for designers and creative types everywhere.
