The Prince’s School of Traditional Arts in London (previously the Visual Islamic and Traditional Arts programme) continues to shine the light of knowledge in the field of sacred visual arts. Students keep the rich legacy of tradition alive while enriching the discipline with their own innovative ideas and creative expression. It’s exciting to see the formation of new approaches that are decidedly modern and richly coloured by their connection to Islamic heritage.

One graduate from this programme who effortlessly fuses the traditional and contemporary is Zarah Hussain. I’ve admired her work for some years and I’ve enjoyed seeing her work evolve from the more traditional themes to her uniquely contemporary creations.

I’ll leave you with this entrancing video where traditional Islamic geometry and contemporary music meet to create a kaleidoscopic vision of harmony, revealing “A Hidden Order”.
